Gas Water Heaters
Gas water heaters have long been recognized as the most energy efficient of all water heater models. Their heating capacity is twice that of electric water heaters, while the heating cost is half that of electric models. Gas can power both storage type, as well as tankless water heaters. Gas tankless water heaters in fact, are considered to be the most energy efficient of on demand water heater types. They also offer a greater pressure of water, making them suitable for large households where there is greater need for water.
In recent years, the federal government has also introduced tougher energy standards which have increased the energy efficiency of gas water heaters> by up to 10%. This makes these models now even more desirable to home owners who are looking for a way to cut their energy bills. The cost of purchasing and installing a gas water heater is much higher than that of an electric water heater. Typically, an electric model can cost between $500 to $700, while a gas water heater can cost $1000 or more. The cost of installation is also higher because it involves complex venting and combustion specifications.
There are also safety considerations involved in installing and operating a gas water heater. In earthquakest gas water heater models is up to 85% while that of electric models can be up to 98%.

I have a State Select gas water heater that is 5 years old. This evening I noticed there is no hot water. Tried to reignite the pilot. It sparks but it will not light and I noticed a spark in an external wire near the piezo ignitor. I am looking for service as soon as possible. Thx. Alan |
